Board of Directors
- Keita Mori, MBA, Co-CEO, Chairman, Co-Founder
- Mr. Mori has been Co-Chief Executive Officer and has served as a member of the Board since SanBio’s inception in 2001. Prior to founding SanBio, Mr. Mori was Head of New Product Development from 2000 to 2001 at Xuma, an informatics startup in San Francisco. From 1993 to 1999, Mr. Mori held positions of increasing responsibility in R&D and Manufacturing at Kirin Brewery, Ltd. in Japan. Mr. Mori has an MBA degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in Biochemistry from University of Tokyo.
- Toru Kawanishi, Co-CEO, Co-Founder
- Mr. Kawanishi served as SanBio’s Chairman of the Board from 2001 to 2005 and has been Co-Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board since 2005. Prior to founding SanBio, Mr. Kawanishi co-founded CareNet, Inc. (TSE: 2150) and was Executive Vice President from 1996 to 1999. At CareNet, Mr. Kawanishi established eHealthcare in Japan. From 1993 to 1996, Mr. Kawanishi was a management consultant at Boston Consulting Group. Mr. Kawanishi has a master’s degree in Biochemistry from University of Tokyo.
- Mario Rosati, J.D., Board Member
- Mr. Rosati has served as a member of SanBio’s Board since 2002. Mr. Rosati is a Partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he specializes in corporate law, especially as it relates to technology companies. He is an ex officio member of the firm's Executive Management Committee and currently serves as the managing partner of WS Investments, an investment partnership composed of the partners and associates of the firm. Since 1995, Mr. Rosati has been an adjunct professor at the University of California at Berkeley's Haas School of Business, where he teaches new venture finance. Mr. Rosati has sat as a judge pro-tem in the San Mateo County Superior Court in the State of California. He also participated in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Task Force to the office of the President Elect, Ronald Reagan. Mr. Rosati sits on Boards for a number of public and privately held companies. Mr. Rosati has a J.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of California, Los Angeles.
- Brian D. Frenzel, Board Member
- Mr. Frenzel has served as a member of SanBio’s Board since 2007. Mr. Frenzel is a life sciences entrepreneur and angel investor. He serves on the boards of directors and the management advisory boards of several private companies. His management experience includes co-founding and serving as CEO or COO and director at Centaur Pharmaceuticals, a neurodegenerative disease pharmaceutical discovery and development company, Vesta Medical, a therapeutic medical device company, Adeza Biomedical, a diagnostic device company, and Genelabs Technologies, a biotechnology company. Prior to entering the startup company arena, Mr. Frenzel was the Director of Corporate Planning at Syntex Corporation, a Principal at Booz, Allen & Hamilton and a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Program. Mr. Frenzel holds a BS in physics and an MBA from Stanford University.
